District Dress Code Reminders: Outerwear with a hood is not allowed. Students are allowed to wear a sweatshirt (without a hood) solid colored in black, white, heather gray, or navy with no emblem, logo, or marking. Lightweight jackets/windbreakers/coats are allowed without a hood. Students may wear a knit cap (beanie)(without a face covering, ear flaps, or poms). They must be removed when entering school building or classroom.

Mrs. Krystal and Ms. Gabby's first grade class is learning about animals using camouflage as a defense. Students each colored a butterfly to make it blend in with the classroom environment of their choosing. They loved this activity and did an amazing job camouflaging their butterflies!











Attention parents of students who ride bus L206-Kim Ortego. The bus is running this afternoon, but the children will get home about 15 - 20 minutes later than usual.

PE will pop popcorn on Friday $1 a bag to help in purchasing needed PE equipment. Thanks for supporting our PE department.


Mrs. Krystal and Ms. Gabby's first graders worked together as a team to build structures for their animal to defend itself from an attack. Teachers then attacked each team's animal to test its defenses.











FRI-YAY FUN with Kindergarten



Pre-k had visitors this week from our principal, Mrs. Perry, and cafeteria manager, Mr. Hilton. They learned about making magical choices and all the work that goes into preparing meals for students. Stay tuned for other possible visitors we may "run" into this week!







Port Barre Elementary will dismiss at noon tomorrow. This is an early dismissal day for staff professional development. Buses will run as normal. Please have car riders picked up by 12:30. Thank you.

PBE students practiced bus safety today and enjoyed some outside time!!




PBES: Megan Diaville will not be able to run Kelly Gillen's route tomorrow afternoon. Students who ride bus 564 will need to be picked up through the car rider line. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

All St. Landry Parish Public schools will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, to facilitate professional learning opportunities. Please be attentive to communication from your child's school, as they will provide you with the precise dismissal times. These times may vary slightly from school to school. If your child typically rides the bus, please ensure someone is available at home to receive them upon their early return. If your child is a car rider, please adhere to the specific car rider dismissal time communicated by the school to ensure a smooth pick-up process. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.


There will be a sub driver for bus #564-Kelly Gillen tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, Sept. 12). Megan Diaville from the high school will run the elementary route after she completes her high school route. Please expect students to arrive home about thirty minutes later than normal.

Second Round of PBES Spirit Shirt Orders were issued to students today. Please check your child's book sack this afternoon. A final round to order will occur in November. Thank you for your support!


First grades participated in a fun P.E. movement activity which incorporated sign language and talking with their bodies!!
